<B>= Equal to/Assignment Operator</B>
<B>exp1 = exp2</B>
= is a relational operator. If <U>exp1</U> has the same value as <U>exp2</U>, the
result of <U>exp1</U> = <U>exp2</U> is -1; otherwise the result is 0. In IF
statements, BASIC regards 0 as equivalent to FALSE and all nonzero
values as equivalent to TRUE.
<U>exp1</U>,<U>exp2</U> Any numeric or string expression, but <U>exp1</U> and <U>exp2</U> must
either both be numeric or both be strings; otherwise a
Type Mismatch error occurs.
<B>Assignment</B>
<B>[LET] var = exp1</B>
As an assignment operator, = stores the value of <U>exp1</U> in variable <U>var</U>.
The keyword LET is optional (and is usually omitted).
<U>var</U> A legal variable name, of any type.
<U>exp1</U> Any numeric expression, but <U>exp1</U> and <U>exp2</U> must either both
be numeric or both be strings; otherwise a Type Mismatch
error occurs.
