The \bOpen File\r and \bLoad File\r commands prompt for a file to load into
a window. When POINT wants a file it displays the \bFile Selection
Screen\r. This screen displays a list of all the files that match the
\bfilePattern\r option string. The default filePattern is "*.*", so
all the files in the current directory are shown.
The \btop line\r of the File Selection Screen shows you the current directory,
the current file pattern, and the number of files matching that pattern.
The \bsecond line\r is a line of commands that can be executed by pressing
the \bAlt\r key with the highlighted letter, or by clicking on the command
with the mouse. (The next screen describes each command).

\bSelecting Text with the Keyboard\r
To select text in a window from the keyboard, use the cursor keys and
the \bBegin Selection\r and \bEnd Selection\r commands from the \bSelect\r menu.
For quick access, you may use the \bF5\r key to begin the selection, and
the \bF6\r key to end the selection. Begin Selection (or F5) sets an
anchor point from which you can use the cursor direction keys to extend
the selection.
To end selection mode, execute End Selection, or press F6.
To cancel keyboard selection mode, you may press Escape.

The \bScrap Buffer\r is an area that POINT reserves in memory to
temporarily hold characters, words, sentences and other blocks of
text that you delete from the file. They stay there until they are
displaced by another block of deleted text.
While text is in the scrap, it can be copied anywhere else in your
POINT session by selecting an insertion point and executing the

POINT has a flexible way of setting the screen colors for each
window in your editing session. This is especially useful if you
have several windows that you need to tell apart quickly.
Select a window and text whose colors you would like to change.
Then execute the \bChange POINT Options\r command from the \bOther\r
menu (or press Alt-O-O). This opens up a menu with options that you
can set or change for the current editing session.
At the bottom of this menu are three settings with numbers that apply

The top line of the color settings screen has a number of options that
can be selected to determine how each element of the active window
will appear. In the lower right hand portion of the screen, there is
a little example window with representative text from your current window.
You can use the cursor keys or the mouse cursor to select the top line
option. A corresponding message and two-digit number appears on the
bottom line with the current color for each item. If you have a mouse,
you can click on one of the colors to see how it affects the screen. A
change of color also changes the number in the prompt at the bottom of
the screen.

You may also type the number in the color matrix for the color you
want. Each two keystrokes change the color in the two-digit box, as
well as in the sample screen or the current screen boxes.
When you are satisfied with the choices reflected in the sample screen
and the session boxes, choose the \bExit\r option (or press Enter) to
take you back to your current editing session.
